It's a great book indeed! Lots of vintage eye candy! Not all from postcards, but it really proves how in many cases the only visual proof of fantastic mid-century architecture exists in postcard form.

The Little Grass Shack mentioned here was a bar long before it became a restaurant. It was at the end of the bus line that ran from Oak Knoll Naval Hospital. Just up the street on Seminary was another bar, the Firefly, owned by Bill Flanders. I spent many an hour at those places!

The Little Grass Shack was at 5860 Foothill Blvd. The original phone number was SW-9978, later changing to 638-9978.

It opened in 1939 and was going until at least 1970.
