Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge podcast - wha' happen'?

Pages: 1 2 47 replies

B

Anyone know what happened to Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge? I've enjoyed his music for quite a while now, but as of a couple of weeks ago, the website returns an "under construction" page, all the feeds are gone, and his Live365 page hasn't been updated in a while either. Did something happen to ol' Vic? For reference:

Hope everything's okay.

Cheers & Mahalo,

I tried my weekly download of Vegas Vic and it's not on itunes at all. The last time Vic responded to one of my e-mails he said he would continue if he received good and regular feedback. I think lack of that may have contributed to the stoppage.

Only one person knows...Vic please post and let us know if you're gone.

Argh! I've emailed him a couple times asking where the podcast went, and since he seemed to be starting a new multi-podcast show "Sabu Martinez, Part 1" it looked like he was going to continue it.

Figures it went away the day I went to grab all the older podcasts I was missing, I listen to them all day at work! Perhaps we should create a repository somewhere of all the shows?

I've got the 69 podcasts in I-tunes - I'll be happy to share.

Unless Vegas Vic doesn't want to keep this stuff out there?

Vic?

O

I'd be interested I had these on my work PC and had to reformat to test an image and did not back up. Figured I could get them the next day.

Low and behold, they were gone.

I'd be very interested.

I'd be very interested in a copy of that collections...please let me know what I need to do..

No more Vegas Vic! It's so sad!

Don't know what happened, but miss it!

Really, it was one of the best damn pod casts on the web. I learned so much about exotica - well, mostly everything, from listening to Vegas Vic. I had some of the pod casts, but not all of them down loaded. Now, I'm not so tech savvy, and I'm trying to figure out how to save them from I tunes onto a disk so I don't loose them for ever.

I knew it must have been a lot of work putting together a regular pod cast - I was always amazed he had taken the time to do such a fine job. Nothing good lasts for ever.

Maybe we should all e-mail him till he starts re-pod casting?

Create a new playlist in iTunes (I call mine "Burn List"), click-and-drag the podcast into that burn playlist, then record away!

Now that I've checked everywhere that I've kept them, it looks like the only ones I'm missing are these:

1 - Vegas Vic ventures into podcasting (6/1/05)
4 - The 3 Kings of Exotica Show (6/12/05)
13 - (There is no 13! Hah!)
33 - A Look Back (1/8/06)
51 - Mele Kalikimaka (12/18/06)
52 - Gene Rains (2/18/07)

Vic, are you out there? Do ya mind if we make a page to keep all these excellent podcasts somewhere?

Newbie here- I have 1-68 archived, I'm only missing #60 and #69 (and the non-existent 13).

I happen to have all of the Vegas Vic podcasts in case anyone is missing any. Please email me at [email protected] and we'll figure out a way to get you the missing podcast(s)

Ron

I listen to my Vegas Vic & Java's Bacherlor Pad podcasts quite often. I do the Vegas Vic ones do pop back up. If it weren't for these two, I'd miss out on a lot of great tunes & bands.

Vic! where are ya man?!

His Live 365 show lit the tiki flame for me and the podcast has provided many great memories the past few years. My top three in order are:

  1. Mileage Run
  2. Paul Page
  3. In a Hawaii Mood

good stuff! Vic, I hope you're well!
I must admit, Digitiki and his Quiet Village have filled the gap nicely. It's great to see exotica live on!

 I just saw this news ....67 of the 70 episodes of Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge is up at Demonoid. 2.33gig of Tiki/Exotica goodness.

We miss you Vic*!*

They downloaded quite easily for me, which was a real relief, since not only was Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge down, so was all of Live365.com and consequently, life was looking rather bleak. So I download the collection of podcasts yesterday and then today - HOORAY! - not only was Live335.com back up but so was Vegas Vic. Life is good.

Wow! The first 67 shows was on torrent?! I missed that. Any links?!

Vic and I used to keep up with each other as we started out podcasting about the same time. When his shows started to fall behind, I emailed him to ask how things are going. He just basically said that he was just getting too busy as an investment banker to do the show.

I truly do miss the show. My wife and I used to listen every Saturday morning as we started our day. So many wonderful memories. Would love to get a copy of the whole series to share with my son someday.

I'd really like to get at least #66-Paul Page episode. Is this available somewhere?

Just go to Demonoid .com and search for "Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge - Podcast Episodes"

I don't want to make a hyperlink in the message board here to a filetrading site like that... though I feel pretty sure that, while downloading CD'S and DVD movies from Demonoid is not quite legal... downloading Vegas Vic's old shows from there is likely not an issue.

There are currently 3 seeders there for it, so your download should probably go pretty quick!

Cheers!

Just a bump to ask if anyone has been able to get hold of the 3 missing podcasts from the torrent.. episodes 13, 27 and 70.

They're still up ... I downloaded them today ... so grab um while you can!

... the search for the missing three continues! ;0)

V

There was no episode 13.

Hooray! Vic lives! Welcome back, man. :)

Bump to inform that the torrent with 67 of the 69 Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge podcasts is finally being seeded again at Demoniod.

Guess I missed out, registration is closed on demonoid and the beta just takes you to a plethora of ads. Does anyone have an invite code for the site?

edited due to typlexia :(

VampiressRN, are you sure you're going to the right site?
It seems to still be publicly available at http://beta.demonoid.me/files/details/2207945/

are you able to download these with a mac? I don't seem to be having any luck downloading these :(

Bump.

Vegas Vic's podcasts were a great way for him to share some of his personal collection of vinyl. This allowed many of us to hear vinyl that we otherwise never would have heard. He had a very interesting collection which he picked and chose from when he made his podcasts.

This link http://www.neowin.net/news/demonoid-returns-after-nearly-two-years-popular-bittorrent-tracker-is-back-online reported that Demonoid (which was hosting a link for a full package of Vic's podcasts) is back in service, and lo-and-behold my search found a hit with one "seeder" so I'm going to load a torrent downloader and see if I can pick up the podcasts.

Loved the show and it was an inspiration to create my own show.
Thanks for the great shows man

bump! because Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge was legendary!

i think i have all the podcasts on an old hard drive, if those links no longer work...

ADDENDUM: looks like the download links still work.

[ Edited by Johnny Dollar on 2022-04-16 07:24:24 ]

If I'm not mistaken, I think he went all the way to episode 100 and stopped.

I used to have every single episode of this podcast on my hard drive. Then it died. I wish all the episodes were available somewhere as I only made it up to episode 40 before I lost them.

It looks like up to episode 37 are available for download. A few are missing like 28 and 32 are missing.

I am just discovering the Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge podcast and have gone through the set on archive.org. Does anyone have a lead on the later episodes(38 - ?), perhaps on torrent or personal collections? Thanks!

Are you still looking for Vegas Vic's podcasts? I have all but 27.

Are you still looking for Vegas Vic's podcasts? I have all but 27.

I am still looking for podcast #27. As I understand it, #13 never existed (superstition perhaps?). A search brings up several archived entries, but the are really of podcast #28 - mislabeled as #27. The final one I have located is podcast #69. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I was able to find the Internet Archive list. Is there any place or way to get the remaining podcasts? I just found this resource and I am starting today with episode #1 and would love to listen to the whole collection.
