Last Years Event

If I can fly with it, I will likely have my Wild Thing surf-n-turf bass in-tow. Will tickets be available online?

J

Here's my question (since you asked)... Stylistically what separates Crime Jazz from Spy-Fi ? Other than the pop cultural source (i.e. Peter Gunn T.V. show vs. James Bond movie) is there something unique to the arrangement which makes it more one than the other ?

John-O

I will be discussing different tones that were used and the
differences between them at the event.

Including what to use and how to get the sound.

***** Everyone. I bring quite a good amount of Vintage amps so we are covered. If you feel comfortable bringing your own combo feel free to, but you need to show up early to get in the front of the line with your amp so we can get you all hooked up ******

*** Our Insiders inform me Tickets will be on sale very soon
so stay tuned to TikiOasis.com for all Symposium updates ***

Im there! It was a fun session last year. Dont forget to bring my guitar Jason haha.
~Brad

Everyone interested:

I'm working on the Flow of the Class right now,

If you want to include input on what you are looking to get out of the
experience please post on here and pass it on to other participants that might not know.

JL

diggin the new flyer for this

bump

If your in Town Make sure to see us on that Wed. at The Flying Elephant in Carlsbad.

This is going to be a great show and we are plying some songs with the riffs you are going to learn at the Class on Sat.

Also We are playing Poolside at Oasis at 12 Noon and are playing some other songs that include excerpts from the lessons to be givin on sat.

Please try and make it to these as they will give you a good idea of how arrangement works in a live band.

Thanks Everyone.

JL

See you there !

thanks for the Bar gig,

what day are you playing Poolside?

Jeff(btd)

We play Poolside at 12pm Noon

One of my favorite parts about Oasis is you guys playing poolside.

Glad to know you will be there again this year!

Thanks Sandra,

We have a really cool set this year with about half the songs being brand new.

See you there.

The Lessons are almost Complete !

Anything else attendees want to chime in on ?

Got my ticket.. I am flying in but I won't have my guitar... still really looking forward to the lesson!!!!

Is this surf guitar class ok for people who are completely new to guitar? Or is it meant for people who have some previous guitar experience? Just trying to figure out if I should sign up or not. My friend has a guitar I can borrow but I don't have any experience. I will definitely check you guys out when you play poolside. Hopefully I can see your pre Tiki Oasis gig on Wednesday too. Should be a totally killer class! Thanks for putting it on.

To touch on Both Reply's.

I will be Bringing about 10 or 12 extra guitars of my own
so your covered there. And Yes. If you are starting out.

I am including some fun and simple rhythm options
that you can play behind the other players working on the lead riffs.

Please no one feel bashfull of your guitar skills and not end up signing up. Everyone has their own level of playing at a current point in their life so you really have nothing to lose.

I put a lot of work into this class so everyone can celebrate a lost era of guitar.

Please if any of you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks

JL

I don't like to play by the rules,
can I take the class with my bass?

Jeff(btd)

I'm in! Just bought my ticket.

Alright,

Upon Eating Breakfast @ Caliente with Brad and Crew he has Personally requested to use my Jazzmaster.

Ticket has been bought so now the Jazzmaster is Off limits.

Who else is in ?

Make sure to "Like" our Facebook to Keep updated with our
Schedule during Oasis and the day before.

Thanks

If you are attending the Class Please bring a cable and tuner if your bringing your guitar. Heck, still bring a cable and tuner if you plan on using one of mine.

This will drastically cut down on time when the event starts.

Stay tuned for more tips throughout the week.

Thanks

Jason Lee

Thanks to our Main Sponsor of the Event for helping out !

Cleartone Guitar Strings !

Thanks so much to everyone for Attending the "Spy Guitar Class"
at Tiki Oasis 12 !

We had a good amount of Guitar Slingin' animals in one room and
had fun touching on the Basics of Spy Guitar, equipment to use and techniques.

We touched on 1 original riff I threw together, Peter Gunn
and worked on Thunderball.

I wanted to Throw in Thunderball to tie in the Performance
the night before on the Mainstage that I did with The Martini kings hoping that some of the Attendies could see it and put Everything together once they started the class.

A good amount of you guys saw it and I think made it a little
easier for some.

My main focus this year was to stress how clean you are playing these riffs, not how fast but how articulate.

Next Year I'm thinking of doing 1 early lesson for the more experienced players? A lot of the players thought this would be a great idea.

Pretty much a show up 30 minutes early sort of thang.

Please remember that this is the Official place to Post ideas
of what YOU want to learn.

This year I received no input so went with what i thought would be fun.

See you Soon Everbody,

Jason Lee
