Axlereid, A few Places that come to mind are the following: 1 - Bali Hai in San Diego - a few hawaiian themed resorts near (Humphrey's) 2 -The Royal Hawaiian in Laguna Beach 3 - Maybe Dukes' (at the pier) in Huntington Beach? Check out the "Locating Tiki" board on Tiki Central, it may be of some use to you. Good luck! |

Axlereid, If you're in need of a hapa haole hawaiian band, let me know. We're based in the Huntington Beach/Newport Beach area. Best of all, we'll do it for free! Aloha and Welcome Alex Reid~ I take it that you, at this time, are acting as location scout for your film. One thing I would like to point out, and suggest, is that you may want to take advantage of utilizing many of our Tiki Central members as extras for your film. Why? Because we, as a group, will have more enthusiasm for your film than any casting director can get. Also, we probably have more authentic aloha shirts, skirts, dresses, jackets, and wardrobe as a whole for that time period you are seeking. In addition, we do have members that have already done films, as actors, extras, set designers, wardrobe consultants, etc., and understand that scenes are not just done in one take, and since we all enjoy each other's company, you won't have a bunch of people who don't know each other just "doing another job". Oh, and not to forget...we do have quite a few accomplished musicians to offer live entertainment. Just my 2 coconuts worth... [ Edited by: SugarCaddyDaddy on 2003-12-17 10:51 ] |

Welcome Axlereid, Here are some previous threads detailing some of our best Southern California tiki restaurants with photos to boot. I've also included some of Humuhumu's recent roadtrip photos. Also recommend The Reef restaurant in Long Beach harbor next to the Queen Mary. The restaurant itself has burned down a couple times in its history, but their Luau Room in particular still has the appropriate decor, also with a dedicated patio overlooking the harbor. -Randy |
