Chainsaw Gang

Was driving through Malibu Canyon today with Pineapple Princess and out of the corner of my eye I spotted some 12 foot tikis on a ridge and saw some other carvings in a tucked away ranch. So for the cause of urban archeology made a u turn to investigate. There was a sign that said private so I walked up the dirt driveway as far as I could without being a complete intruder and risk being mauled after seeing the slow for dogs sign.. I saw there was a number on the side of a trailer at the bottom of the driveway so I called the number and left a message and drove off. I received a call back from Matt Clements who told me that was their workshop where they do carvings with chainsaws for special orders but I was more then welcome to come back and see if there was anything they had on site that I would be interested in or if I wanted to place a custom order for a carving. It also turns out tonight they are having the premier episode (1 of 12) based on him and the other carvers he works with called Chainsaw Gang for CMT (country music channel). I returned and spoke with Rio a chain smoking blond mulleted character, really nice guy who gave us a tour. These guys have some real talent. Besides the tikis they carve they had various animal carvings that were super impressive. I didn't buy anything but I'm looking forward to watching their show to see them in action.

Hmmmmm...might be an interesting show!!!

Is there a way to group these not sideways, so one can view the images and read the text on a Mac book desk top?

I added in some hard returns to make them easier to view.

Thanks, mo better!
Man, those "Country Hick" reality shows that the cable networks come up with these days sure can get annoying.
But his one has an interesting subject, indeed. Cool find, Mongo.

See the entire episodes here. I was entertained! The extra footage clips feature a tiki with bad mana.

I watched the first three episodes and it is interesting. These guys lean more towards power tools than chisels, or at least it appears that way. The production is more focused on human comedy/drama than the artistic aspects of the show. I found it to be entertaining with glimpses of some very cool wood carvings in the background.

Tonite there were 40 commercials during the 30 minute show. Not exaggerating, I counted. TrailerPark, true more drama than substance. Great art. The Japanese carver won because he was focused on his work, not the drama, and no interviews. Good for him. If it was more of a documentary style I would watch it again, but nyet.
