Surely indulge in an Elvis sandwich?

"2 tablespoons butter, softened
8 slices white bread
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1 large, ripe banana, sliced
1/4 cup honey
12 slices bacon, Sauteed until crispy"

Fry completed sandwich in more butter.

J$ - I got it.

So Happy Birthday to the big E.

On second thought, I'm so inspired that I'm just gonna go ahead and post the lyrics here. Thanks, J$. And thanks, Mojo.

When I look out into your eyes out there,
When I look out into your faces,
You know what I see?
I see a little bit of Elvis
In each and every one of you out there.
Lemme tell ya...
Weeeeeeeeeellllllll...
Elvis is everywhere
Elvis is everything
Elvis is everybody
Elvis is still the king
Man o man
What I want you to see
Is that the big E's
Inside of you and me
Elvis is everywhere, man!
He's in everything.
He's in everybody...
Elvis is in your jeans.
He's in your cheesburgers
Elvis is in Nutty Buddies!
Elvis is in your mom!
He's in everybody.
He's in the young, the old,
the fat, the skinny,
the white, the black
the brown and the blue
people got Elvis in 'em too
Elvis is in everybody out there.
Everybody's got Elvis in them!
Everybody except one person that is...
Yeah, one person!
The evil opposite of Elvis.
The Anti-Elvis
Anti-Elvis got no Elvis in 'em,
lemme tell ya.
Michael J. Fox has no Elvis in him.
And Elvis is in Joan Rivers
but he's trying to get out, man!
He's trying to get out!
Listen up Joanie Baby!
Elvis is everywhere
Elvis is everything
Elvis is everybody
Elvis is still the king
Man o man
What I want you to see
Is that the big E's
Inside of you and me
Man, there's a lot of unexplained phenomenon
out there in the world.
Lot of things people say
What the heck's going on?
Let me tell ya!
Who built the pyramids?
ELVIS!
Who built Stonehenge?
ELVIS!
Yeah, man you see guys
walking down the street
pushing shopping carts
and you think they're talking to allah,
they're talking to themself.
Man, no they're talking to ELVIS!
ELVIS! ELVIS!
You know whats going on in that Bermuda Triangle?
Down in the Bermuda Traingle
Elvis needs boats.
Elvis needs boats.
Elvis Elvis Elvis
Elvis Elvis Elvis
Elvis needs boats.
Aahh! The Sailing Elvis!
Captain Elvis!
Commodore Elvis it is.
Yeah man, you know people from outer space,
people from outer space they come up to me.
They don't look like like Doctor Spock.
They don't look like Klingons,
all that Star Trek jive.
They look like Elvis.
ELVIS!
Everybody in outer space looks like Elvis.
Cause Elvis is a perfect being.
We are all moving in perfect peace and harmony towards Elvisness
Soon all will become Elvis.
Everything everywhere will be Elvis.
Why do you think they call it evolution anyway?
It's really Elvislution!
Elvislution!
Elvis is everywhere
Elvis is everything
Elvis is everybody
Elvis is still the king
Man o man
What I want you to see
Is that the big E's
Inside of you and me
That's right ladies and gentlemen,
The time has come!
Time has come to talk
To that little bit of Elvis inside of you.
Talk to it!
Call it up!
Say "Elvis, heal me!"
"Save me, Elvis!"
"Make me be born again
in the perfect Elvis light"
That's right!
You've got that Elvis inside of ya
and he's talkin to ya
He says he wants you to sing!
Everybody's got to sing like the king!
Like the king
Get that leg going now
Get your lip too.
Not no fool Billy Idol lip either
Everybody!
Yeah, we're rockin now!
Elvis is with us.
He's with us and he's speaking to us.
He says "Peoples!""Peoples!"
"Everybody!""Everybody got to sing!"
Elvis is everywhere
Elvis is everything
Elvis is everybody
Elvis is still the king
Man o man
What I want you to see
Is that the big E's
Inside of you and me
Elvis is everywhere
Elvis is everything
Elvis is everybody
Elvis is still the king
Man o man
What I want you to see
Is that the big E's
Inside of you and me
Elvis!

Crap! This means the big Salute show will be this weekend in Pigeon Forge! Gotta go! They either do the entire Aloha from Hawaii show or the Comeback Special show, complete with costume changes and faux skits! Thanks for reminding me!

Thanks Martiki... I haven't heard Mojo in years.
I posted this in the "Rockabilly" thread but I 'spose it's more fitting here.

Thank you, thank you very much.
:tiki:

Tiki Royale - That is one sweet mug, how'd you come by it?

Johnny Dollar - That was hilarious, my favorite..."Elvis is in Joan Rivers but he's trying to get out" Haven't heard Mojo Nixon in a few years, nice to revisit.

Hey Ben,
I wish it were mine. It's not a mug but a little statue that was made a few years ago. I never got one but have been looking. I just had this pic from the internet.
Aloha,
:tiki:

CLASSIC!

not no fool Billy Idol lip either!

Happy Birthday KING!

My MOM is the #1 Elvis fan of Fishkill. Yup, complete with former kids bedroom turned into shrine. She even confessed to my ex that she married my Dad 'cause he looked like Elvis!

"I was always, baby, I was always
Well, "almost" always true to you..."

I may just mix some peas and crumbled bacon in with my mashed potatoes tonight in honor of Elvis. (Oh, and he ate them out of a big bowl with his hands.)

I'm watching "Viva Las Vegas" on the tube. Did you ever notice Elvis walks like a gun-fighter with his arms bent and hands hovering about his hips as if he's going for his guns?

UJ

My bathroom is the elvis shrine. seriously

Elvis is everywhere, even the bermuda triangle.

Enjoy my art:

If I may TW~

That's a variation of a recipe that was done by The Food Network and isn't actually Elvis' official recipe (bacon/bacon drippings was never a component of the sandwich). Here it is in it's actual form:

1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
2 ripe bananas, mashed
8 slices white bread (buttered)
Additional butter for grilling

*Combine (and mash) peanut butter & bananas.
*Spread mixture on 4 slices of bread.
*Place remaining 4 slices on top.
*Butter the outside of the sandwich.
*Melt butter in skillet or griddle and grill both sides of sandwich.

Makes 4 sandwiches.

You will see some variations of the above recipe where they say to "place slices of banana on (peanut)buttered slices of bread. That's where the mistake comes in. You need to mash that banana with the peanut butter. And as for the quantity of butter? It's up to you, but Elvis didn't hold back on the butter, so you'll need lots. Be sure to watch your heat since it can burn. Believe me, these are REAL good!

I recommend this book for the true recipes of Elvis. I have it, and it's pure Southern comfort food. The South knows how to cook up some damn good food! Looking at the recipes, it seems like just simple recipes, but if you follow the instructions to the 't', your mouth will be in for some real treats. Plus the book is only $8 (well spent if I may add). I picked mine up at the Elvis Museum in Las Vegas.

Just my 2 "peanut butta & nanner samich" worth.
**THANKYOU!**Thankyouverymuch!

I

This past month has been a good month for the DC/Baltimore area, as far as Elvis impersonators go.

The first weekend in December had Baltimore hosting its 10th annual "Night of 100 Elvises" event. This was the first year I've attended, and although they had perhaps only 8 or so, and not 12 Elvis impersonators, it was still a fun event.

Two weekends ago I saw the play "Cooking With Elvis" performed at the Kennedy Center. Others in our nation's Capital may have chosen to see performances by the National Symphony, or Russia's Kirov Ballet, but I chose to see the play that featured the character of a quadriplegic Elvis impersonator, along with many acts of depravity thatI won't get into.

Waiting for the next appearance of Elvis...

Vern
