Where's PJ?

Pages: 1 24 replies

T

I have noticed a conspicuous absence of rapier sharp wit on the board lately... where art thou?

D

I noticed Purple Jades absence too, yesterday she posted a short and sweet notice about N.O. Rum offering tours. Purple Jade where are you-ooooo? http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=7003&forum=1&0

Yeah, me, too...No Jadie= More dull Tiki Central.

Maybe she took that RUM tour?

PJ has been in a tedium-induced coma, brought on by an overdose of drivel about Benihana mugs, labels for scenesters, moai tissue dispensers, and people who, amazingly enough, would go to a tiki webgroup for toxicology information.

It is possible that this condition may be reversed, but only with massive doses of well-thought out and researched on-topic posts.

Those wanting to help are urged to consult the Book of Tiki, or to use TikiCentral's internal search engine before posting.

Thank you for your concern.

PJ you go sistah!

(man, I tried to make a statement like that and trashed. OuCh!)

I hear ya' PJ.

Agree 100%.

T

Don't be dissin' my moai tissue dispenser now girl!

D

Dear Purple Jade's Caregiver,
Has Purple Jade's "tedium-induced coma" come on from a sudden severe brain trauma from reading threads like "Am I stupid" or has this been developing slowly over a lengthy, long, drawn out, 6 page explanation of the word Rockabilly period of time? I hope your, I mean....she is on the mend soon. Yours Truly - DawnTiki :P

Mega Dittos on that one. I am still just as enthusiastic as I ever was about Tiki, but half the crap that end up here lately has little or nothing to do with it, or has a connection just vague enough that it some-slightly-how stays in the topic. Glad I (we) bought in early.

Tell 'em sis! I totally understand where you are coming from. Can't say that I blame you.

D

I am with ya PJ, but don't run out on Tiki Central in its hour of need.

Alright God damnit! (and not in a good way), I love PJ, but why the f(#* is it that when mean ol Bong whines about lame-ass poser postings on TC he get's blasted. But when cute little PJ does the same thang, she's godhead?

(I'm OK now, just a case of Post-Traumatic-Syndrome)

Remember that boy who cried wolf?
:)

to pj's caregiver,
tell pj we know the real story; she has been laboriously working on molding the mini tiki mugs to produce them for tcers. she knows that they will sell out in seconds so she is keeping her plan quiet till it is time, thus cutting down emails questioning "when will they be ready?"
and yes, i have not been down with the treatment of some of the new people joining in the past, but have to agree there is deficit in the posting category.
pj, can't wait, er, get well

I for one enjoy stupid posts.

Such as this one.

S

I too, enjoy the stupid or off topic posts.
I will admit to never being able to concoct the perfect mai tai according to directions on TC, and still, after many years, my tiki bar is still my old microwave cart with a grass skirt and tons of malibu.
Shun me if you will, but feel free to ask me about ROCKABILLY or VIVA, or maybe I'll invite ya to the Drink and Wink... if ya gotta ask, well, I won't say I'm too cool, nope, I'll give ya directions. Sorry, Pea is drunk on BUD LIGHT after a wonderful night of hearing her buddy do some Western Swing, and Yodeling (yeah, ya know when ya open yahoo, and ya hear the yodel? That's my friend Wylie...) I love me some Tiki, and polynesian stuff, and rum, but I think its good to talk about other stuff too.
Yeah, i know, Blah Blah Blah Blah. Tikifish, I hope I get to see you at the SF crawl, even if it's just one day that I can make it down.
HANFORRRRRRRRRRRD, how the hell are ya?

I feel for you PJ about the coma-inducing posts, but:

Most off-topic posts are in Beyond Tiki - why not just ignore that Forum? (I never read collecting tiki as it isn't that interesting to me)

If you want thoughtful well-researched topics why don't you contribute one? I know you have plenty of times in the past so please don't give up now. We need you! Complaining and not doing anything about it is pointless.

Bong - how's that for equal treatment?

Ah, or was she going for the my-mother's-advice approach of "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything"? Remember, we goaded her into speaking! She was quietly waiting til things got better, NOT complaining. Very ladylike.

Ahh, the dreaded Tikithargy hits another victim! I guess it hits us all at some point, but Tiki Central has always had it's share of dull, stupid, repetitive posts (and I've had a hand in many of em.....).

Personally, I blame the sheer volume of posts these days. Back in the day, you could come back from a long weekend and catch up with every thread in an hour or so. Nowadays if you don't log in each day, a raft of topics will float by with nary a glance. And if you do try to read everything, you just find yourself skimming, looking for choice nuggets. It's not surprising that as a result, topics get repeated.

But if anyone reading Tiki Central starts to feel a bit flat, take a break, give Tiki a self-imposed rest and you'll come back feeling refreshed and eager to get stuck in again.
