What price do you value Tiki Farm's/Kevin Kidney's Miehana?

So I just missed an eBay auction for the Miehana mug that ended at about $70. I put in a few bids, but by the time it hit $60 I pretty much told myself that I don't need it that badly (though I need it badly!) and that the guy I was bidding on was probably willing to go to $100+ for it.

My question is, what do you see as worthwhile to pay for the mug? I'm not a giant mug collector AT ALL, but because its so simple, beautifully designed, and I love Kevin Kidney's work, I must have this mug in my life at some point. This particular one wasn't dinged up, but I might even consider a slightly damaged one. Was $70 overpriced, or should I have kept on bidding?

Any tiki mug...or any collectable for that matter, is only worth what it is worth to you.

Here is the listing in ooga-mooga that will help you get a price range idea.

Go to events if you can. Someone will have one for sale, and not at that price.

Yeah my friend told me today that at Don the Beachcomber's in Huntington Beach one went for $100. Sounds like thats the rough estimate price I should expect.

Price = Personal Desire x Scarcity. So,there are mugs I would have paid $100 for when I started collecting that I won't pay $5 for now. It's about your mind-set. It's about what kind of collector you are. Sometimes I just need to buy something and I make a dumb purchase and sometimes nothing interests me. That particular mug isn't in my collection yet either. But I know it will be... eventually.

Well, I finally grabbed my own! A bit more than the $70 from the earlier auction, but it has the original paper insert and I figure I won't be buying mugs much anyway.

Well the real world prices (I am a seller at Don's Marketplace) has been in the $50 to $100 range
this is a very popular mug (one of my favorites too) so once they sold out you don't see many
for sale, resulting in the higher prices being asked for them.

I sold one for $50 a few months ago, myself.
