I use some small hand tools for carving and Bass wood. The actual figure is about 5 inches tall. I've only been carving for about three months, what do you think? I turned out a few of these things for a New Year's Eve party. This one is the best, and it has been stained (it was real dark, but the wood absorbes the stain like crazy!)

I'm not sure about how to put the photo up, so there's the link.

Nice work, rorysm.

Thanks. I'm thinking about making some and offering them for trades for tiki mugs or other tiki things. I'm not expecting some rare 1950's mug for them or anything, but maybe someone out there has an extra mug that they'd be willing to trade for a 5 inch by 2inch tiki man to sit on their shelf. I'm thinking about leaving them unstained because it's quicker for me and whoever trades with me can stain (or god forbid paint) it to suite themselves.

Anyone interested?

Oh yeah, I've decided to call them KenTiky's in honor of my home state. (Not like there is anything else tiki in Kentucky).

This should be the picture, but shutterfly's saying there's no such shared image:

Uploading and Embedding Images
Tiki Central does not provide a way to upload images, but you can embed images from other places on the web. So, in order to upload images, you'll need to use another server. Most Tiki Central members use Shutterfly. Here are instructions on how to use Shutterfly to upload and embed pictures in Tiki Central messages. (courtesy of Alnshely).

Step one: Upload your image
Go to Shutterfly.com. This is a free service. They are a good online photo service. One of our Moderators, Mig, works there. It is easy to download photos. here's how:

  1. Setup an account. It's easy they only want your Email address.
  2. Upload photos. Shutterfly's step-by-step will show you how.
  3. Once your pics are posted they will all have a unique web address.

The pictures you see on TC are a direct link to that web address

Step two. Finding and copying the web address

  1. View your picture on Shutterfly (or whatever website the picture is uploaded to).
  2. Use your mouse and "right click" your pic.
  3. A menu will open. Choose properties (left click).
  4. A properties box will open. There will be a web address (a URL, starting "with http://") to that specific pic.
  5. Right-click on the URL and choose "Select all", or triple-click it.
  6. Right-click on the selected URL and choose "Copy".

Step three. Embedding

To embed the graphic within your message, just paste the URL of the graphic image as shown and include the BBcode around it, like in the following example (BBCode is in red).

In the example above, the BBCode automatically makes the graphic visible in your message. Note: the "http://" part of the URL is REQUIRED for the ![]( code.
