Fake pufferfish?

Pages: 1 4 replies

Aloha tc ohana!
So you all have been either directly or indirectly really helpful with my work on "The Hydeaway" my back yard tiki porch. There will be photos and a full write up as soon as it's done!
My big question is this. I've been collecting all kinds of flotsam and jetsam; lamps, masks, ashtrays and some great barrel end tables but I really want at least one pufferfish light.
Now the downside is my girl is HORRIFIED by anything taxidermy so one of the real ones is a no go. Is anyone out there making replicas? Either in resin or plastic? Ideally I'm looking for a light or something I could make into a light. Any sources or ideas on making my own would be awesome!

I came across this one the other day! it is awesomely inventive but I guess it's too abstract for me (if that makes sense)
I've been looking at these balls (can't say that on most sites...) For awhile and I'm sure I could make something work but they are inflated.

Great question. I've found lots of cutesy puffer fish, but none that look life-like or that would fit in with my decor.

In terms of looking for ideas, here's what the lights look like at Chan's Dragon Inn in Ridgefield, NJ....I never reached up to touch them, so I can't say whether they're artificial.
