Looking to interview tiki collectors

I'm looking to interview a few collectors (via email) for some articles on thetikipedia.com. If you are an avid collector of something tiki—mugs, matchbooks, menus, postcard, etc—and would like to participate, please send me a PM. Thank you!

T

Don't let the lack of responses here fool you—I've gotten some fantastic responses so far from some awesome collectors, and looking for more. I'll post a link to the interviews once they're finished up. In the meantime, I'm still hoping to talk to people who collect primarily menus, postcards, matchbooks, or other paper ephemera. Drop me a line if you're interested!

The first interview is up, with our very own PolyPop: http://www.thetikipedia.com/doku/doku.php?id=interviews:polynesianpop

More interviews coming soon!

Thanks again, PolyPop! :D

Nice!
I think the interview focus is to much on mugs, or maybe that's what you wanted.
But I do have mugs 200? the cool tiki I have is not mugs, it's Old stuff from old bars like the
Kahiki, those things have a much more unique past IMHO.
Sure not everybody has a lot of these items but it would be nice to know where at least some of it is.

Tried to add something to your list but got messed up in trying to sign up.
But then I did not try that hard.
Good Luck!

Lights, décor for home and
commercial TIKI bars.

I'm hoping to interview collectors of various things, such as matchbooks, menus, maybe aloha shirts, etc, but so far mug collectors are primarily who I've heard from. They definitely represent the largest contingent of tiki collectors.

Can you tell me what you were trying to add to the list? Which list? I've got a lot of lists! :)

"Can you tell me what you were trying to add to the list? Which list? I've got a lot of lists!"

Wanted to add a post on Fish float lights as I have many, some new, some from Kahiki.
I don't know what list that would go in.

Nice interviews. Thanks for posting!

Great job.. Tastefully done...

Great job and real interesting. It's nice to get to know some of these members up close.

I read the interviews that you conducted with Swanky and PolyPop and they were really good.

Thank you! If you or anyone you know is a collector and would like to be interviewed, be sure to drop me a line!

His bar was also featured in Tiki Magazine 2012/13 vol.8 no.2 in Totally Tikified

It would be nice to add these links in your interviews Tackmeister, so people can see what you are talking about when you interview people.

There's actually already links to high-res photos of PolyPop's bar within the article. If you click on The Desert Oasis Room it takes you right to his entry on his Home Bars page: http://www.thetikipedia.com/doku/doku.php?id=location:home_bars:the_desert_oasis_room . Which is a great segue to remind people that anyone is welcome to contribute their own home bar to the site, including photos if they wish.

I asked Swanky to contribute some photos if he'd like. I don't want to add photos or links to people's websites without permission.
