Inspired by the San Diego tiki mug thread, I thought i'd start one for the LA area, ideally a list of all restaurants/bars that offer tiki, mai-tai glasses or tiki-ish mugs. I'd love to find some smaller bars that offer mugs or glassware Tonga Hut - North Hollywood Damon's - Glendale Purple Orchid - El Segundo Trader Vic's Lounge - Bev Hills The Warehouse - Marina Del Rey Tony's on the Pier - Redondo Beach Don the Beachcomber (duh) - Huntington Beach Beachcomber Cafe - Newport Beach Can anyone confirm the Rum box/barrel mug is still offered at the Cafe? Tiki Ti - Silverlake Bona Vista lounge - DTLA (looks like mugs are offered here, can anyone confirm?) Trader Sam's - Anaheim Billy's at the Beach - Newport Beach [ Edited by: kjtiki 2015-05-24 17:46 ] |

Pretty sure The Beachcomber in Newport/Crystal Cove doesn't have muggery anymore (unless they just recently started again.) I was there a couple of months ago and there were none. Love the green chalice/bowl they had years back. |

Great thread. Someone should add whether mugs are unique logo mugs or generic. |

Clifton's Brookdale, 648 Broadway, Los Angeles, CA, has three mugs (an owl, a grizzly bear and a black bear) and they also have a large clam shell. The clam shell is marked "Clifton's Pacific Seas" and the owl mug has "Clifton's" at its base. The Grizzly Bear is brown, the Black Bear is identical, but black. (Not sure, but hopeful that there might be even more mugs once the tiki bar's open on the 4th floor.) The Bona Vista Lounge at the Bonaventure Hotel has souvenir mugs. It's a rotating bar on the 34th floor of the hotel which means the drinks will be expensive. Mugs are subject to availability.

They do not have mugs....was there a few weeks back and they didn't have any and from the conversation I had with the bartender it didn't seem they would be anytime soon. Trader Vic's in Beverly Hills does not have any mugs either (it's on the list here) I haven't seen any here for the last couple of years since I have been in southern Cali....when was the last time somebody did get a mug from here? I got one at the old Beverly Hills full restaurant but am curious when they stopped having them in the lounge. |

Does anybody know if the glass at Billy's on the Beach is complimentary when you buy the mai tai the way it is at Old Tony's or do you buy it separately? Just curious |

Billy's at the Beach charges $8 for their Mai Tai glass. At Tony's, the glass is free. The Mai Tai at Tony's tasted like a chewable vitamin, so be warned... |

Billy’s had some anniversary double old fashions (Mai Tai glasses) with red graphics recently . The ordinary ones have black graphics. They serve their Bill’s Mule in a Warrior mug-I don’t know if they sell em. My preference in Mai Tai’s is Trader Vic’s 1944. That said my wife and I like the M T’s at Billy’s. |

Was in Downtown Disney in Anaheim last night. Rainforest Café now has this tiki mug for $10 ($16 with drink.) They said it was for a limited time only, so not a permanent offering. Not particularly great. Fairly basic mold, cheap looking paint detail. Made in China. Was mostly just surprised to see it because it's RAINFOREST CAFE, but hey, I guess it's one more sign that Pop Polynesian is back in the mainstream! Cheers to the weekend, gang! |
