My Tiki Shack

After repeated admonishment from my son, I have finally gotten around to posting my backyard bar. The original idea was to have a WWII South Pacific bar theme. After friends and family started donating items it became a much more eclectic bar with a distinctly Caribbean feel. That's ok with me because the idea was to have fun.

I started with this pile of salvaged lumber

Then added to a platform that was already in the yard.

It's a timber framed look, but I did use lag bolts in places.

The siding salvaged from a farm outbuilding that was being torn down.

I had to break down and buy new tin roofing, I couldn't find any to salvage. The rusted look would have blended better...

The bar is covered in pallet wood and topped with salvaged redwood.

I need some bamboo....

It's on its way...keep up the good work. I agree, bamboo would be a great addition and some Tikis. Have fun.

The bar looks great. You've made a lot of progress already. Any plans to use woven matting anywhere? It will be fun to see how this takes shape. Nice job.

I painted the inside of the doors red so that they would show when the bar is open.
We decided on a "beach" so that we had room for a fire pit.

Some lights and decorations and we are up and running.

This could also fall under "Tiki on a budget" since with the use of repurposed materials, I have spent less than 400 dollars on bar. Well, as long as you don't count the money spent on rum.
