This is Porto. He's around 3' tall and quite sharp. The first time my wife and I touched him he drew blood from both of us. I believe he may have been carved in the South Bay at Mike Gildea's shop. His eyes, nose, mouth and tongue I've seen in other old Gildea carvings. I read in an article from the early 60's that Gildea brought in a fella named "Dave from Malibu" who specialized in stone, so maybe it could be his work. I'm still digging around for info... I found this little guy recently out in Lake Elsinore...a few blocks from Danny Balsz The Tikis. Carved from feather rock. |
