Just made myself one of these: http://imbibemagazine.com/scorpion-reef/ ... which is quite nice. But with that heavy Angostura float and five spice topping, it got me wondering ... what do most people do? Do you use a straw and let the float become an exciting little end to your journey? Do you skip the straw and get a little off the top with each sip? Or do you sacrifice that lovely layering and mix it all together for the sake of bold flavor? Just curious. I think I'm going with option 1 tonight. |

I'd say that depends on the float, and the drink overall. With bitters like Angostura (and this drink) I'd probably slowly stir it in as I drank. With an overproof floater on most drinks I usually let it do whatever it wants. |

I’m with Sandbartender; it depends on the drink. I just had a Citrus Rush and mixed it up a bit. When I have a Buz-Tai, I leave it alone, since the lime shell is supposed to dispense the float as the drink is moved around. |
