Mahalo, Kahiki Nation! We Need Your Help… For nearly forty years, the Kahiki Supper Club in Columbus, Ohio, was the undisputed center of the Tiki universe—the most magnificent Polynesian restaurant and bar ever built. While two giant Easter Island heads with flames spouting from their topknots stood guard outside, customers dined in a faux tribal village with thatched huts, a towering fireplace moai, and periodic tropical thunderstorms. But then it was gone. Those who saw it, never forgot it. And those who didn’t see it, know they missed out on something truly special. In the past five years, we have continued to collect stories, photos, and artifacts related to the Kahiki—things we would like to share with other Kahikiophiles. Enough, we think, for a second book, which we have given the working title, The Kahiki Scrapbook. That brings up to you—or, possibly, your family and friends and co-workers. Because it is highly unlikely there will be a third volume, we want to make certain we have collected the best stories from those who had a personal connection to the Kahiki: Designers We are looking for good stories, good photos, and anything else that you think others would enjoy seeing collected in a book. If you would like to speak with one of us, please send an email to [email protected] with your name, telephone number, and a brief description of what you would like to share and one of us will be in contact with you. Cheers and Mahalo, |
