Island Palms Hotel and Marina, Shelter Island, San Diego - Locating Tiki

Unfortunately Tiki Kate can't correct that so I'll make a new page. The hotel was bought out by Best Western but they did a decent job of keeping the Polynesian style instead of 'modernizing' it. It appears that Best Western also bought the more Spanish styled hotel next door, now part of the same property so these comments only apply to the east end of the hotel. I'll call Island Palms "Humphrey's Half Moon Bay Light". It has A-Frame rooflines, lava rock planters, burning Tiki torches at the entrance, beautiful tropical landscaping, and the same view of the marina or bay. You can still walk to Bali Hai (0.6 miles) but it may be a little more difficult after consuming the limit of 2 Mai Tais. Island Palms doesn't have the beautiful center courtyard with the koi, parrots, and Tikis. But Humphry's has kind of priced themselves out of my budget, especially on concert nights when they jack up the price. Good to know there is another Polynesian option.
