This is the Tiki Kai (with a sister location in Albq., New Mexico). The Islander must have taken over after the Tiki Kai closed. |

I found an old thread that's partially about this place Here's an excerpt:
I don't suppose it matters but it looks like even the Blockbuster is not there anymore. The Google Maps street view photos showing the Blockbuster are almost 4 years old (7/08). The satellite view shows the Blockbuster gone. |

Well, I think the Islander took the usual turn for the worst in the 1970s, judging by this advertisement I spotted. The Islander, home of The Glass Menagerie indeed. The 1970s were brutal on Tiki (but how about the hair!) DC |

Very cool photos, thanks for posting them. I found a branded pair of their salt and pepper shakers last weekend at Goodwill and was curious about the establishment. So fun and sad too to read about these places, long after their heyday. |
