Sad News About Shipwrecked (The Warehouse, Marina Del Rey)

Went to The Warehouse for a Father’s Day brunch, and asked our server why I couldn’t find any info on upcoming Shipwrecked events: https://shipwreckedmdr.com/

He seemed puzzled, saying yeah, they usually have them around this time. He went back to ask his manager, and when he returned, he said that the organizer had recently died!

Anyone know who this organizer was? Did he have any partners who might continue Shipwrecked? No updates on their website or socials.

If it was a one-man operation, wonder if anyone else might pick up the (tiki) torch and carry on with it…

Aloha [MrFab], Yes, the news is very sad. I’m not sure I’m the best to answer, there are many more who knew him much more than I. I only met him a few times, but, each time he was very friendly and a wonderful meeting. The shipwrecked event was run by Tiki Diablo. He recently passed away. He was an amazing artist, and a really great guy. I’m not sure that anyone wants to try to carry that event onward. I think it would be difficult subject for his wife. There are also rumors that the warehouse will be closing in a few years. If there were to be any similar event, I think it would have to be approached with care and sensitivity, honoring its origins and originator, and addressing its future. There are several different places where there are written tributes to him. I encourage you to check them out.

Tiki Diablo was the organizer?! I somehow missed that. I knew he went there, but he went everywhere. Guess I thought of him as an artist. Ok, well, that explains it...
