Bahooka recipes

Hey does anybody have knowledge on what went into the now defunct Bahooka drinks? I know they weren't great but they were fun and having a party in the next couple weeks and along with the more traditional craft tiki drinks like Mai Tais, Zombies and Painkillers I was thinking about doing a punch of bowl of Bahooka wackiness. Looking for Honey Bowl/Head Shrinker. From what I heard it is apricot juice, pineapple juice, rums(? probably cheap lol) and the kicker Mountain Dew or Coke lol... Maybe I have been told wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have one of their menus but it doesn't tell you much about what's in the drinks.

Hey thanks! Yeah I’ve seen that menu before. Also remember a bartender that worked there told me that they used Mountain Dew in most of the drinks. Which would certainly explain being wired when drinking them.

Aloha friends, i studied the Bahooka bowl recipe for a month before they closed. After much experimenting here is the closest i have found to the original bahooka bowl.

• 1 part finest call passion fruit puree
• 1 part water (the puree is very concentrated)
• 1 part vodka
• splash burgundy wine (Chico our long time waiter confirmed it to be a cheap burgundy wine for color)
• serve in wood bowl with small cube ice
• garnish with pineapple slices and cherries

This drink may be too strong but truthfully that is how I remember it. And don’t forget the long straws. Fresh passion fruit juice may make an even better version of this drink.

I miss Bahooka. Of all the closed tiki restaurants, I actually think I miss Bahooka the most. Sure, there are better drinks elsewhere, but it was a whole package experience.

The drink that I cam the closest to reproducing is the Island Itch. It is quite different from a Tropical Itch, which includes bourbon. I used a white rum, lime, orgeat and Hawaiian Sun Lilikoi. It wasn't exact but it got pretty close.

My go to drinks there were the Zombie, Pele's Punch, Harpoon and Honey Bowl. After more than ten years I doubt I remember the taste of any of them enough to reproduce them.
