Here's the recipe. Enjoy! Trader Vic's Cheese Balls Makes about 30 1/2 pound cheddar cheese, shredded Vegetable oil for deep frying Mix cheese, shrimp, cilantro, chilies and chili powder in a bowl. Roll into 3/4 inch balls. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350. Combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center. Add water and 2 tbsp. oil to well. Gradually whisk liquid into flour until a smooth batter forms. Dip cheese balls into batter, allowing excess to drip back into bowl. |

Can you hear the sound of all those vegetarian jaws hitting the floor? "But I thought that was the only thing that Trader Vic's serves that DOESN'T have meat in it!" Trader Woody |

I almost ordered them at TV's Bangkok, but thought it best to ask if there was any meat in it - close call! |

Or Formikahini. Wham. Dead. (Exaggeration - I get some lag time between ingestion, analphylactic shock, and death, thank Gawd - enough time to prevent at least the last one!) [ Edited by: Formikahini on 2004-04-21 16:17 ] |
