Nice refernce images.

Here's a page I found a couple days ago that has a lot of great vintage ad art. Oh, and my point is, there are a few travel posters here, too.

The "Gallery of Demonic tots" is particularly amusing:

There's great stuff on that sit, bot. But I have to ask about this part:

The images on this site are embedded with an invisible digital watermark and IPTC metadata. Are you free to scan and market images out of that nifty 1936 Hupmobile brochure you got at the flea market? Yes, if it was published without a copyright, or if the copyright has expired. Is it okay to use the images we've made from the same catalog? Ahem, cough. We own the scans we've made — they represent a considerable investment in equipment, source materials and labor over the past five years. Every jpeg and gif on this site is copyrighted and marked as belonging to us. Please, no borrowing without getting permission.

I really don't want to get into a huge debate here again, as has been done many times, but why does the image become theirs because they scanned it? Isn't that a stretch?

T

Apparently, somebody's playing "no take-backs".

Yeah, that's a real head-scratcher. So they own the rights to the scan, but not the image? SO what if I do a "print screen" and then paste, crop and save it in Photoshop? Do I own it then? Sounds fishy to me. My legal advice to the folks at that site: Bite me!

Tiki-bot, thanks very much for posting that mid-century design site. That kind of stuff is like food to me.

Mighty purdy stuff. Which one o' them shots ya think that feller's gonna down first?

M

The caption for the pic with the two shots should be:

"The shortest distance between two shots is a straight line"
