Visited a good friend in Morro Bay,CA,this weekend and decided to check out the Harbor Hut.
I saw some old postings about the place and decided to investigate for myself. I was busy snapping pics while my friend was inside snapping up drinks.
I spotted a tiki that I'm guessing is an original part of the old decor. I wandered off for a bit, then came back and found it turned into a bike rack!

Here are some "happier" tikis at the Harbor Hut...

And here's the big sign over the building as well...

They should put a real bike rack in front of that tiki so he doesn't get beat up by bikers!!!

It was based on (copied from)this Leroy carving:

Which was based on the traditional Marquesan style. Of the Marquesan style "the low relief goggle-eyes, open mouth, and flexed body with hands on body are characteristic."
Bunch of four eyed freaks!

Mai Tai Time!

Thanks for digging up the info on the tiki - I was wondering if it actually had glasses or was supposed to be some sort of traditional design. However, I do like the name "Geeky Tiki!!"

Actually this was a Marquesan rendition of ET's visit long ago. ( In the movie he didn't wear glasses be in reality he did)
