Getting under way on new Tiki room/bar

Pages: 1 23 replies

We moved last year and had to leave behind our Tiki hut-Here
are a couple of shots of it, we were doing a WW2 Hawaiian bar vibe.

This hut morphed into a Tiki hut, we did very little planning before hand.
Being outside required alot of maintenance and cleaning.
The new Tiki room will be in our garage, which fortunately faces the backyard.

The interior has good bones with a nice high ceiling

Were thinking of calling this new Tiki room the Halekolohe, although
I'm also partial to the 3 Torches bar, where I had my first Maitai
at the Reef Hotel in Waikiki.

We're in the San Fernando Valley.

Wow! Your last spot is amazing! Looking forward to your next project!

We had the ceilings sand blasted-

And I've started to install the subfloor

We are thinking of doing a cork floor in the Tiki bar.
It gives it a real nice vintage look.

Can't wait to see more progress. Love the photo of the hut- looks great, the shape of the original structure/ hut adds so much!

Our new bar will look something like this, love the 40s vintage rumpus room.
Also, that is the cork style floor we will do.

And we will do a blacklite painting-We went on a home tiki bar tour here in LA
and fell in love with the blacklite murals at Halekahiki.

Great
Can't wait to watch it grow...

Keep posting pictures as you progress. We love watching!

I agree, your last place was spectacular. But looks like you have good bones and a boatload of ideas, so looking forward to your new build.

Here is a Sketchup design of my new bar.The back bar is not final, have some new
ideas for that.

I'm also including a bar I designed for The Majestic.
The script called for our hero to get drunk at a bar.
The story takes place in 1951 Hollywood, so i talked the Director
into making it a Tiki bar.

We redressed The Formosa Cafe in Hollywood into the Coco Bongo Bar.
The owners of The Formosa left it Tiki for a month after we shot the scene.
Some progress on new bar,not enough time on the weekends-

Getting new electrical and surround sound system installed.

Good luck!

Moving along now, lots of work going on, we are adding a pool
behind the tiki room. Got the west wall going and the back bar cabinets in.

Burning through the material, its good to have lots of bamboo size choices on hand.
It is at times a stream of consciousness design, finding new elements to add.
My motto is if it feels right do it.

A Very ambitious project. I look forward to the finished tiki bar.

coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing the progress as well as the final result! Good luck!

A new tiki bar and a new pool. Mildly busy! Lookin good.

We loaded in the new bamboo bar and got our final inspection sign off from
the city for the new pool. We did a full mahogany top on bar, with tons of storage behind.

This is bamboo plywood that was CNC into this polynesian motif. They will be speaker covers.
My son Ryan designed it in Adobe Illustrator.

Soon photos showing the Tiki room tied into the pool area.

The back bar print of Pele-
