Modfish was inspired by many things.The art of Joan Miro and Stuart Davis, the graphic playfulness and linear sensibilities of Jim Flora and Saul Steinberg,and the carvings,drawings, and work of Witco's W. Westenhaver. The colors evoke Modernist Interiors,sleek fifties murals and mosaics and even vintage glazed lamps. Modfish's style was the result of years of playing with forms,and how to best simplify them,yet still retain their essence. Landscapes,Vegetation,Animals.....all of these subjects have been examined and abstracted in sketchbooks,often to be used later in paintings... Modfish fits well into the swanky Modernist environment,which includes it's offshoots Polynesian Pop and Tiki vintage. One has only to look at the work of Ken Pleasant,Bosko,Derek Yaniger,and El Gato Gomez to understand how these two aesthetics are woven closely together.... Get Yours today! Better yet! We chose 3 midcentury inspired primary glazes (soft coral, light harvest gold and soft avocado) and finished off all 3 colors with a deep ocean aquamarine interior. Check-out the fun added detailing in the interior!
