How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the light bulb and 1 to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

53 to flame the spell checkers

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy"

109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped

111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three"

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 new forum member to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

fyi, this is a joke that's been going around about forums in general... not dissing tiki central in particular.
it really is too true!

You forgot to mention the members arguing whether or not light bulbs are actually "Tiki"...

Obviously they are, as seen in this photo of Gecko's bar:

Notice the light bulb proudly displayed among the other Tiki items.....

You also forgot the one person who will always post the Websters definition of a light bulb in the middle of the argument.

Thats the rare vintage tiki bar bulb I've been searching for on Ebay for months.
Gecko , I want it!
Tiki bar bulbs ROCK!

T

...and one to waste even more bandwidth by replying with a "LOL" and nothing else.

LOL.

And nothing else.

T

.. and the person who says "Light bulbs? Well since we're talking about it, I have a few on ebay..."

hahah

I am guilty of this myself so no one get their knickers in a knot please.

By the way have you seen my auctions?

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=fishstique&completed=0&sort=3&since=-1&include=0&page=1&rows=25

hahahah

By the way, in the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland, there's a bar that is all arts/crafts style. In the chandlier in the ceiling are light bulbs that are Edisonian in design ... made of dark glass, and you can see they have a very thick filament that is wound once is a large loose loop, and they glow just enough that you can see the filament ... they don't put out any light really, they just look like early-age lightbulbs (light bulbs), for decoration.

Anyone know where I can get lightbulbs like that?

Anyone

Is this what you are looking for?

no ....... YEAH!

I can't fool ya. Boy those are neat, thanks for finding that Tikifish.

And by the way, I used "neat" just for you.

All right, since we're talking light bulbs I'll loose these sort of insider ones on the world...

How many artists does it take to change a lightbulb?

2, 1 to change the bulb and 1 to say "I was doing that a couple years ago."

How many musicians...?

2, 1 to change the bulb and 1 to say "I can do that."

Not so great but hand crafted by me in the mid-80's. If you heard it after that it was stolen. Not that I really believe in 100% originality in the age of multi media. (I just looked up a joke site and saw variations on the musician one which proves it's true.)

T

What's wrong with 'neat'? Am I missing a joke? Is this like the time you alughed at me on the phone for saying 'oot and aboot'?

Jane, I am so tired of your self-promotion.

LOL.

And nothing else.

I used "neat" here and you did a doubletake, somewhat:

Fair enough Hanford! But since you said neat it makes neat cool. Now all the kids are saying it!

Tikibars, I hope that was a joke? I do not get the jokes. I am slow perhaps.

Yes, Jane, kidding.

Maybe you don't get the jokes becasue in this case they're not that funny!

T

Tikibars, that is a releif! I was worried for a moment that the tides had turned and a Tikifish backlash was about to begin.

Anyway, perhaps you are not pushing your pamphlets hard enough, I still haven't bought your book!

Bad, bad tikifish...

What was the old Rolaids ad again?
"How do you spell relief?"

Not like that, Jane!

Tikifish Backlash starts now!!

(Sorry, Fish- just couldn't resist. You know that tikifish is loved worldwide! Even in a yellow sweater!)

UB

This is a neat post!

Still so true.

this post could also be "keen" or "peachy" or even "peachy keen".
