Comic Con is a four day sci fi, fantasy, action-adventure, comic, movie, fan event that packs 'em in every year at the San diego Convention Center. I always wanted to go and Geek out, so yesterday I paid the cheap addmission ($10.00 after four) and Shelley and I walked around all this crazy stuff.

Pacman???

The King of Stormtroopers?

Presidential Action Figures. The Teddy Rooseveldt doll speaks in the actual Presidents voice, digitized from old Edison Cylinders

These collectable vinyl toys are popular in Japan.

The GI Joe Booth cracked me up. Here Joe acts out the infamous scene From "Full Metal Jacket" "Me love you long time, Joe"

Joe and pals hanging out with French hookers in the last days of WWII

And of course here's Joe with everyones favorite Communist Sympathiser, Ivana Bombalott. She dosen't drink Mai-Tais, she likes Moltov Cocktails.

Mahalo,
Al

I've never been to the San Diego Comic-con, but I've done website photography for the annual Trek Expo in Tulsa. We've had pretty much all the series' actors except Patrick Stewart, but I've had the most fun with the charactor actors. Here's something I threw together for a Star Trek toy-collecting mailing list a couple years back:

Al- thanks for the pictures. I have also "geeked out" in previous years and "trekked" down to comic con to see my favorite Star(wars). It's always fun to see people all dressed up and so SERIOUS about being their favorite sci-fi/comic book/video game hero.

Actually, last year was a blast with all the cool lord of the rings things and simpsons stuff.
Won't be attending this year, but I'm sure it'll be fun.

hey if yall go back tell my friend Guy: "Unkle John said he wants his puddin pops sent to him priority mail"

Anyone walking by the SIDEWHO/WETA/NEWLINE CINEMA booth, say Hi to Jamie. It'll confound him. And take time to enjoy the Lord of The Rings original costumes and props. Just watch out for the puddles of fanboy/girl drool.

My wife helped do the set up of the costumes. They were at FIDM here in Los Angeles and shipped directly down.

And as a teaser, there might be an all Lord of The Rings Costume show in the works for the mid distance future at FIDM.

And maybe one for a certain sci fi trilogy. I don't count the prequels in the total. Is that enough of a hint?

Toy companies sometimes make convention-only special editions for the San Diego Comic con. You might consider guaging the interest in whatever's available and if its sufficient, grabbing something to sell on ebay to help with the inevitable costs of going to a convention.

Toy collectors who are pure of heart frown on selling exclusives on e-bay
