Living on the wrong end of the country, I won't be able to attend this event ..... but those of you in the L.A. area with a fondness for modern architecture should definitely take advantage of this opportunity. Mod Com 20th Anniversary Tour Sept 18-19 It includes.....
-Home tour and book signing by architectural photograher Julius Shulman (94 years old - he's older than Martin Denny!) -New print (and signing) by Shag - at the Cinerama Dome! And those are some of the events on just the first day! I'll send you west coasters a Capital, a White House, a tall obelisk, and a whole bunch of colonial homes if you'll just trade all those cool locations in return. Vern |

Is anyone else going to this? Or will I be the sole TCer in line for Shag? |

i was there and i mean, really! what happened? it was surreal. no line, minimal waiting, almost on time. hey, i'm not complaining. it was my most pleasant Shag event ever, but i'm just surprised, that's all. maybe the event handlers psyched out the people who called in just for the Shag signing and scared them off. anyone else have any insight? |

I went through the tours and barely made it to the Eames house by 4 PM. We jogged our way into the last group so we didn't feel like doubling back to Hollyweird for a Shag Print since we were in Santa Monica and were staying in Mar Vista. It wasn't the ModCom people that scared us away, it was the $250 for a print! I have more prints than wall space these days so the postcard will have to do. Did they sell out of them? |

A very cool Modern print - even if it doesn't have a tiki in it. |
