I'm not sure why I like this song, it's very silly and honky-tonk.

"Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian" by John Prine

{title:Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian}
{st:John Prine/Fred Koller}

[D]I packed my bags and bought myself a ticket
For the land of the tall palm [A]tree
Aloha Old Milwaukee, Hello Waiki[D]ki
I just stepped down from the airplane
When I thought I heard her [G]say
Waka waka nuka nuka, [D]waka waka nuka nuka
[A]Would you like a [D]lei? [A]Eh?

{c:Chorus}
{soc}
[D]Let's talk dirty in Hawaiian
Whisper in my [A]ear
Kicka poo ka maka wa wah wahini
Are the words I long to [D]hear
Lay your coconut on my tiki
What the hecka mooka mooka [G]dear
Let's talk dirty in Ha[D]waiian
Say the [A]words I long to [D]hear
{eoc}

[D]It's a ukelele Honolulu sunset
Listen to the grass skirts [A]sway
Drinking rum from a pineapple
Out on Honolulu [D]Bay
The steel guitars all playing
While she's talking with her [G]hands
Gimme gimme oka doka [D]make a wish and wanta polka
[A]Words I under[D]stand [A]

{c:Chorus}

[D]I boughta lota junka with my moola
And sent it to the folks back [A]home
I never had the chance to dance the hula
I guess I should have [D]known
When you start talking to the sweet wahini
Walking in the pale moon[G]light
Oka doka what a setta [D]knocka rocka sis boom bocas
[A]Hope I said it [D]right [A]

{c:Chorus}

spoken: Aloha

That's really cool Virani! Thanks!

Rum Balls, I didn't know Petty Booka did a version of that song...now I have to hear it! :)

But, in the same time Instead of D I play G, instead of A I play D and instead of G I play C.

Have fun with this 3 chords song.

Tiki Wahine, the whole CD is a blast! I had no idea who PB was, just happened to run across it at a used CD store, and took a chance.

"Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian" by John Prine

dayum.

I will tellya what it is NOT:
is NOT a "Hawaiian song"

I will tellya what it is:
It is terrible. and it's perfect for the mainland in da south.
and they can keep it. there.

For them to start off with Aloha oe written by our revered Queen Liliuokalani is absolutely reprehensible.

That would never see the light of day here.

shoot it before it multiplies.

me-OW!
Then don't listen to it if you don't like it.

I see nothing wrong with a song about a mainlander spending all his money in Honolulu.
Maybe he just needs a little Hawaiian language ed-ja-ma-cation.

At least he's not trying to talk pidgin like someone we know(not Gecko)

i KNOW yer not referring to me. cuz i have been talking pigin since the early 60's. It comes natural when yer raised with it here in Hawaii. No problem there. No "trying" involved.

Tikiwahine,

The country-style is very reminiscent of that of the 50's country music scene -- one of my favorite styles. Very fitting style to portray the average mainlander touched by the Aloha Spirit!

SO true Freak Bear!

Lanikai,
I apologize for my rude comment about Pidgin talk. That's not very aloha of me. I hope you have a great Halloween weekend in Hawaii!
