Hawaiian Pu- looking for a carved conch for wedding

Pages: 1 3 replies

O

Hey all,
Was not exactly sure where to post this, so here it goes........
At the opening of my wedding ceremony, the person officiating will open with the traditional blowing of the conch. I have found a company in Hawaii the sells conch horns; lavahut.com. I found a site for a guy who does "trophy" quality conch horns: conchking.com. What I am wondering is if anyone else knows of a source for ceremonial conch horns and are there ones out there that are ornately carved. The idea being that we are going to keep the horn and have it displayed in our home.
Thanks for your help

Aloha, Tikitanked

Great idea about the conch shell announcing the nuptials.

Give you another horn to blow on your anniversary.

It might not be what you're looking for, but there's always Tibetan Conch horns:

Covered in beaten silver with coral & turquise accents, they certainly add something to a ceremony.

Hey Christiki, long time no talk, Happy New Year.
Freddie, thanks for the photo, I read about those while searching.
I am looking for a conch with tapa flowers or maori style........I guess what I have envisioned may not exist. I thought that I had seen conch shells that have been carved into, or maybe it was a drunken hallucination. The conch horns are beautiful as is, so maybe i will get a stand carved for the presentation of it in my home.
Thank you for your responses.
