Chlorinated Surfing...

Was it not for the generous discount we were given on our rooms ($150 a night instead of $250... includes water park admission) this might not have happened but a few members of the Great Lakes Surfing Association and I were able to travel 170 miles inland to ride the first indoor flowrider in the Midwest this weekend. Better still, we had a private 2 hour session. While not a true curl like the other Flowriders around this one was a good time nontheless. And its nothing like real surfing. Still, there was 12 inches of snow outside and we were skimming across 85 degree water. During operating hours there is a divider down the middle to allow people to surf a custom bodyboard, at night they open the wave up to the custom stand up boards. I opted for the bodyboard most of the night... the learning curve is quite steep for standing as the water shoots out at 35 mph... a good time for landlocked surfers...

Funny you should mention this,Lakesurfer-we're going to Great Wolf Lodge in the Dells this coming weekend. No surfing, but it's great to be walking around in a bathing suit with a ton of snow outside. It's a great little winter getaway.Us midwesterners need a spot of warm in January.
