S

Noted Tiki collector and contributor to The Book Of Tiki, Kiara Geller, and his band The Sugarplastic will be performing in San Diego, this Fri, Jan 28 at LeStats. The Sugarplastic are not Tiki, lounge, or any other style of retro revival, but they are an amazingly tight, and melodic brand of Pop music that often leaves unsuspecting newcomers in a state of speechless bewilderment. Clever hooks and jingles reminiscent of early Kinks, Beatles, and XTC, reel you in and yes, rock you out as well. If I lived in SoCal I'd go see these guys every time they played. The band has been around for a good ten years or more, and they have a strong, loyal following in the LA area. They rarely play outside of the NoHo and Silverlake areas, so this is a rare occaision. Kiara plays bass. He's a great guy, and if you get the chance to say hello, please tell him Seamus sent you!
