Tahitian or Marquesan Tiki Bottle

Pages: 1 2 replies

My mother-in-law brought this bottle back from either Tahiti or the Marquesas (BigBro?) about 15 years ago. It was filled with some sort of local liquor, but the cork has since rotted and the contents was dumped. It stands about 4 1/2 inches tall and is anatomically correct.

Lovely little bottle!
It's actually a Cook Islands design, though that doesn't stop it from being made in Tahiti or (less likely) the Marquesas. I understand you can pretty much pick up any Pacific Island design over in Tahiti.

But once again, a damn fine bottle!

Thanks, Woody. She also brought back a trio of wooden tikis from that region that I've been coveting. Actually they're sitting on our mantle, on loan from her collection. I'm hoping she'll forget where they originated :D
