Australian research just released has shown that exposure to pine treated with copper chromium arsenic largely increases the chance of cancer. This occurs through touching the treated wood, particularly with children who may put their fingers into their mouths. It is being withdrawn from usage over the next year by government legislation.

I thought I would give people a heads up. Apparently, if you paint it (and maintain a good coverage by repainting it regularly - 6 months was suggested) it is not a problem.

From the sound of it, carving a treated pole (and turning that stuff into tiny air born particles) could be a really bad idea.

Thanks for the heads up . I think Benzart became ill from carving treated wood.
