Thanks to Johnny Dollar's alert, I was able to spend a nice part of the morning yesterday at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History looking at a very nice display of Pacific Cultures, including a special section about Hawai'i. I was greeted by a partialy completed Moai from Rapa Nui. There was a canoe restored from the royal Hawai'ian family. There were fantastic artifacts and great lessons to be learned and I had a nice hour and a half to read everything there and really enjoy the exhibit. I admonish any who can see it to do so. Hopefully Vern can use his photographic skills to bring a bit of it here for viewing. (Also a fantastic orchid display - nothing like it on earth I've ever seen or heard of) Oh, and when ikitnrev tells you a place where the food is good and the drinks are good... believe him. He's "the jab" of the east coast. |
