Yesterday, NPR's 'All Things Considered' did a April Fool's piece that was pretty funny - a story on the downfall of the maple syrup industry in New England - about 6 minutes into the piece, you hear one of the reasons for the downfall - the new production of syrup being made in the Samoan islands. People who would formerly sit on the beach and strum ukuleles, are now working in the syrup industry. The full piece can be heard here .... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4571982 Vern [ Edited by: ikitnrev on 2005-04-02 08:51 ] |

People in that industry call the tree's "Sugar Bushes" which is a splendid pet name for a girlfriend. NPR is great! |
