Tiki Central / Tiki Carving

Recycled Tikis

This is my tree hugger post. I've seen alot of people posting stuff from found objects and thought this could be a good thread. Post the stuff you've made from from other people's "trash".

The tiki is made from a piece of maple that use to be a shotgun stock. It still needs a clear coat put on it, but the wood is beautiful. The pineapple is made from - get this - deer antler. It was done on a lathe and finished with the dremel.

Wow, those look great! I'm really diggin' that style nose. How hard was the antler? Do you still have that clay piece that you wanted to be fired? Shoot me a PM and let me know. Great stuff as always.

Wow, what a small shotgun

YYK - the deer antler is VERY hard. To turn that stuff on a lathe was exhausting and the smell of burnt hair filled the air. I heard about using the stuff from a woodworking club. The pen I made from it was beautiful, it looked just like Ivory (sorry no pics).

TeaKey - The rest of the stock is being made into other things - pics to come.
