Pages: 1 22 replies

Has anybody seen or have any of the new Shakatiki vessels?
You can see them at

http://www.harmonyball.com/Shakatiki/

They look cool, just wondering what they are like....

Damn! Those are sweet, I wonder how to order them? Nothing on their web site to order.

I was wondering about that too. Right away I went to see how much they cost, but no info or any links or anything. They look cool though. It would be neat to own the whole set.

Yeah, what's up with their web site? There's not a shred of information on contact or cost!

You could try their contact page at http://www.harmonyball.com/contact.htm

Wow, those are really original! And it looks like they haven't seen much in the way of traditional tiki to influence them too far in that direction. They look nicely made! Lots of different textures. Maybe made from resin?

These are not available yet. Go to http://www.harmonykingdom.com and check out their dealer page to find out who might be carrying them or call them and ask them to order them when they are ready to ship.

They're $19.50 each.

Go to http://www.gbread.com and click on Shakatiki.

Really bad knock offs. Knock offs if they were half as good. Look like plastic. http://www.munktiki.com all the way when it comes to this.

I called Harmony Kindgdom.
They are resin. Highly textured. Very cool. They resemble Tiki sculptures with a nice twist. I don't think they qualify as knock offs! Tiki itself is a knock off of Oceanic art. Check out the mermaid one.

Gee, I sure do wish they'd join TC so that we could ask them questions. oh where, oh where could they be?

having said that, I dig the drum mug (don't I always?)

Thanks for the link to gbread.com, Tiki-Kate. I tried to contact them by email, and both phone numbers listed, but there seems something strange happening with them. I would use caution if anyone was to place an internet order with them prior to making personal contact with someone by phone.

TWB, you are right. I "placed an order" with them only to have my order never sent and a bunch of unauthorized charges on my credit card. Fortunately, the credit card company noticed irregular activity and stopped the credit card. I'm not saying it was them, but it is a weird coincidence. I have sent a couple e-mails and have received no replys. BEWARE!

Nice mugs but....resin?

Look at some of the other companies they have under their umbrella - a whole lot of cheese. I may be horribly wrong, but they strike me as a company like the Franklin Mint selling 'collectables' to the great unwashed.

Trader Woody

Thanks for the update, Atomicchick. I passed the link to a friend of mine and before I notified him, he had placed an order with them as well. I just found out the same thing happened with his credit card... many unauthorized charges were placed on it and his bank had just notified him.

BUYERS BEWARE of gbread.com!!!!

M

This guy is selling them in his e-bay store.

http://stores.ebay.com/The-ART-ERY-Gallery_SHAKATIKI-vessels

He says they are ceramic, and you can "But it Now" for $19ea.

His feedback seems good.

M

I just did the buy it now for the mermaid and rainforest "mugs". The description does say not for liquid.

They should blend right into our mermaid/pirate room. I liked the other mugs but didn't want to bid against Atomicchick. Hope the seller list another set later.

M

Got my mugs last night from the ART-ERY gallery (ebay). They were just like they look on the web site. They say all over not to be used for liquid, but with the toxic smell from the resin, I'm not tempted to put any rum into them.

D

the Hawaii General Store in Seattle has these mugs! about 20 bucks each, very cool.
New Mugs

whats really cool is that many of them, there's 4 faces... so every quarter turn, you get a different view!

S

I just won one of these by answering a trivia question on that tiki tour of San Diego. I got the Volcano mug. It is pretty cool the way they designed it to have a different face on each of the four sides. I must say that not being able to use it as a drinking mug is a ittle weird as it is in fact a mug, but I guess it can hold swizzles or straws or something.

Ahh The Col!
He and his wife are great folks, HAd the pleasure of Meeting both of them at the FOM & Drifters Hot Rod Hula Hop....
He is also a member of the FOM..
IF any one needs them (the tiki vessels) let one of us from the FOM know and we will let the Col know...
(a little info.. Ceramic designs are in the works)
thats all for now!

I'd like to clarify that a little...

The Colonel designed them, he does not produce them. Harmony Ball is not his company. He is an artist (and a talented one at that) and a tiki-phile.

And yes, he will be designing some limited ceramic mugs you can drink out of, but details at this time are not available. They will not be produced via Harmony Ball though.

If anyone wants info on the Colonel's upcoming ceramic mugs, send me a PM and I'll put you on the list (he and I are working on a few projects right now).

I know I'm a little late on this one but if you live in San Diego you can pick up these mugs at Babette Schwartz in Hillcrest - 421 University Ave (http://babette.com/). They don't have all of them and they are around $20 - they also have a few other tikitinkets.
