I've got the matchbook from there. It looks like Tikis were just one of many things they carved and sold. Sabu. |

Good find, Unga! Visually not such a stunner, but in the context of my research: This one will belong to Puamana, if I know her, I bet she has book marked it already. I sent her on the trail of that place after photographing some of her Witco copycat pieces that have "The Woodcarver" as signature and then finding the matchbook in Jeff Berry's collection. I mailed her a copy so she could go and check out the place's status, but I think she has not made it to the address yet. I am pretty certain that this was a guy who copied the Witco style, maybe after working for them for a while, which was what several people did. Anyway, this should be hers as the preeminent Menu AND Witco copyist collector. [ Edited by: bigbrotiki 2005-07-23 00:17 ] |

Aaaaw...Puamana reports that there is no trace of the original buildings left at the address, it's all a brave new mini mall/franchise world now. Anybody else with a "The Woodcarver" piece, or info on him, out there? |
