Primo Beer Shirts

Pages: 1 7 replies

I hope someone can help me out here. I'm interested in a Primo Beer Shirt I found. My question is does anyone know if there was more than one maker of these shirts? How can you tell if it really is vintage? Like for anyone out there who has one, what does your label read? I have seen them with shiny buttons and coconut buttons, which is more desirable in a shirt? I'd like to find out the basic info on these shirts, what to look for and what to avoid. Just clueless here, help...

Don't know if Primo Beer is still around (I'm guessing it is) but the shirts are still being made in various patterns.

Who's the maker of the shirt in question?

Nope Primo Beer is no more. http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=12607&forum=10&hilite=primo%20beer

Thanks Silverline for the link, I don't have the shirt yet (Ebay), I it's being sold as vintage. I am buying it as a Christmas gift. I was just curious as to what I might look for when it gets here, as far as tell tale signs of vintage vs. new, besides the obvious sign of wear.

Dawntiki-

The Primo shirt I have (and have seen at several locations) is made by "Go Barefoot".

I bought mine at a store called "Duke & Duchess" in Cypress, California. They have the style I bought, the "Tapa" design, as well as the original classic style. My shirt has coconut buttons. They also had have a variety of colors. I think I paid $34.99.

Here is their info:

For anyone in the Southern California/Orange County area, this is a great store. Back when The Sperm Whale and I were in elementary school, this was the only place to get "surf/skate" labels like OP, Lightning Bolt, etc. Our mom used to take us there for our school clothes. Anyway, they are still around twenty some years later, and they are still one of the best places to get shorts, shirts, boardshorts, etc. Their prices are much cheaper than other surf-style shops

Anyway, I have also seen Primo shirts made by "Go Barefoot" at Ron Jons and House of Tiki in Costa Mesa.

Hope this helps.

RipTide that info is a big help. Mahalo :D

The Primo shirts being sold by Aloha Cruz (mucho$$) are made by Hawaiian Holiday. Guessing these are an older version.

Hey DawnTiki,
The original Primo Aloha shirts were made by "Hawaiian Holiday"."Go Barefoot" makes the reproductions.
I have one of each and they both have coconut buttons.
Except for the tags, they are pretty identical, and quite stylish.
Hope this helps.
Aloha,
