Which tools do you use for your car

Pages: 1 14 replies

Hi there,
I like to buy some tools to fixing my 66 Chevy Chevelle.
I know a lot of good companies from germany, who build excellent tools, but they mostly produce metric threads.

So which tools do you recommend me ??

I thought about to buy some tools from STANLEY!
Are they good for professional using ?
Can you recommend me other companies ?

Thanks a lot for your help,
Wolli

A mechanic would be the best tool.
Otherwise aren't Snap'on a european brand?

I love my Craftsman Tools....

I would not reccommend Stanley tools. They are not made to the quality you want to work on a car. I've wrecked a few of their screwdrivers without even applying that much torque to them.

Sears Craftman tools are a good combination decent quality and decent price.

Of course Snap-On and MAC are great quality tools, but unless you are really wealthy or a professional mechanic, they are really overkill for the home user.

IMHO, YMMV.

A good quality hammer works everytime.

And a bigger hammer works even better!

The tool that I find works on my car is me...

Are Craftsman hand tools sold in Europe?

In the U.S. they are one of the best tool values you can buy.

Just replaced the transmission in my car with a set of craftsman tools that Ive been using for years.

A hammer. A REALLY big hammer. Oh, and duct tape. Lots and lots of duct tape. Bailing wire is good, too.

... jb weld...

... this is all you will ever need...

... when it runs out, walk...

Thanks for your help.
I think about to buy my tools from craftsman on my next vacation in the USA.

And yes, a big hammer is sometimes also a good tool for an old american car, but only sometimes !!

Someone else mentioned it, but you might be able to pick up a decent Craftsman set on Ebay.
