Mission Tiki Drive-In Theatre Grand Opening Bash!

The official Grand Opening bash for the Mission Tiki Drive-In Theatre is set for Saturday, April 29th 2006! It will include a vintage and hot rod car show, special guests, lots of live music, the coolest vendors, great food and of course two great movies: COBRA WOMAN (Maria Montez, 1944) and BLUE HAWAII (Elvis, skinny era). Tiki Diablo and others have been very busy with the Tikification. The ticket booths and the snack bar interior have been transformed! Also, the spiffy new Marquee should be done in a few weeks. Yippee!! There's lots more to go but it's coming along beautifully. More details soon, as well as a BRAND NEW Tiki-riffic website launching at the end of this month. We are accepting vendor applications for the event so if you have a booth with ultra hip goods give me a call. The 4 screen theatre is presently open daily showing first run double features, call movie info line below for showtimes. Admission is still just $5 each. Suggestions are welcome, send them to my e-mail. Maybe we should do some kind of contest?! We do a similar event in Atlanta called Drive-Invasion. It's a huge success. More of a rockabilly theme for Atlanta but here in Cali it'll be Tiki all the way.

The April 29 event conflicts with the Tiki Ti 45th anniversary bash. Maybe hit Tiki Ti early and then off to Montclair? That might work. Tiki Ti is going to be insane anyway that night.

Second, we realized (Duh!) that 2006 was the Mission Drive-In's 50th anniversary. So, we opted to change the date from late April to August 5th. Thanks for pointing that out, and sorry for the confusion." (see Big, BIG news from the Mission Tiki Drive-In Theatre!! for more info) Just a thought...can this thread's title and/or content can be changed to direct people to the Grand Opening thread?
