I own two bars in near Berkeley and have always wanted a to do a complete bar with a tiki theme. The two bars that I now have (Club Mallard and Thalassa) have tiki stuff but they are not tiki bars. I am purchasing an existing bar in Oakland that will be 100% tikified. I am need of help for this project. I want to create a logo, match books, cocktail napkins, tiki mugs and a small volcano on the bar. The name of the bar will be "Kona Club" Does any one know of artists who may want to design a new look for the bar? Thanks - Doug

Off the top of my head, I would suggest Tiki Tony and CrazyAl along with Bamboo Ben, of course their work is of the finest quality and well worth the cost that it would take to make your endeavor a crown jewel in the modern tiki bar ohana.

i'd give PrimoKimo a messge ~ he's moving to your area, and he put together quite a bar in Burlington Vermont (do a search on Kahiki Moon )

man.. you californians get all the cool stuff... (including PK)

Hi Doug, and welcome to Tiki Central. I've talked to you a couple times at the Mallard, which is one of my favorite bars in the Bay Area (even better than Vic's, as long as Robin's behind the bar).

This is great news! There are so many great artists and craftspeople here to choose from. Here's a short list of faves and some I have bought pieces from:

Bamboo Ben - tha Master himself:

Ken Pleasant (keigs 20) - a great carver in the Witco style:

Seamus - concrete tikis (perfect for bar environment) - you definitely need a spitting moai for the lounge:

Kahaka (who posted above) - best lamps anywhere!

Monkeyman - best tiki frames on the planet! Where did you disappear to? All your work samples are gone from TC. Seek him out - the mysterious man they call the Monkeyman.

Basement Kahuna - someday I'll own a BK tiki or war club - they're the best:

Thanks for your replies. I met with Bamboo Ben last night and went to the Mallard, Thalassa and the soon to be Kona Club. He seemed to like the new spot and I hope he can find the time to help out. I am still looking for graphic and print art for the new place.

Its great to know that a bunch of other folks love tiki. The new bar should be great.

man, thats a great list of artist there Im positive the bar would be among the best in town with any of this talent, but i didnt see my name mentioned...Kirby

You really should look into one of his paintings . Look at the one he did for the Lucky Tiki art show that now hangs so proudly in the bar.

Any of the artist that have been mentioned would be great choices. Glad to see you looking out for the TC 'Ohana
