I did a series of paintings of Polynesian Weapons.

I am having them printed by a printer by piece in San Antonio.
Let me know if this stuff appeals to you, or pass it on to anyone who might like 'em.
Thanks,
Eric

Nice Paintings!

I

Thanks.
I just set up the site to make the large art paper prints just 49 bucks(the big fat one is 59).
And ALL the Glicee Canvas on wood "Stretchers" bars versions just 99 bucks. I figure with the Holidays coming up they might make fun gifts for Polynesiana enthusiasts.

I hope people dig 'em.

I

see below.

Those are great...It's nice to see people appreciating the beauty and art of these war clubs..I recognize a Totokia (Fijian beaked battle hammer), two types of Salis (The Fijian club that looks like a gunstock), A Kini Kini (Hawaiian/Polynesian hooked blade club), a Maori "Patu" short club, and a Samoan Nifo Oti, the small hooked spatulate club. Nice paintings...

hey Irky! could you tell me about the Glicee on canvas vs Glicee on paper? does the canvas one look more painted than the paper versions? is it easier (less expensive)to frame the wood stretched canvases compared to dry mounting the paper prints? or, can you hang the canvas ones, w/o framing?

thanks in advance...

the curious elicia.

ps: very nice work!

The canvas has a decent textures to it. The Glicee process is very durable and with the glossy finish it just feels more fun. The paper version is a nice poster-ish effect. Its got a similar feel to the prints you get off the line at Disneyland, but a little richer.

One of the advantages of the stretched canvas Glicee is that you can paint the edges with some black acrylic paint and hang as is for a really cool look. I like it this way myself because it definitely goes well in a modern setting. The general idea is that they look like they are generally lit and back lit. The paper prints really to make affordable versions that people who dige them, can afford to give as gifts to their Polynesiana Enthusiast loved one(s). It not neccessary to buy the whole set. You can get the cool images all together in one, or they can line your hallway in full size. The glossy canvas are the way I wanted to do things. If you go to the link below, you can see more details and the originals too.

Thank you very much Elicia.
People seem to dig this set.
I do some Freaky Tiki stuff, but I really got my Jolly's doing these ahead of Tiki Oasis 5.
I didn't have an takers for them, but I realized afterward that its more of a numbered print and mug crowd. They got more of a kick out of the talking tiki head I built.

These will be a generally limited run.
But I am going to make it a time sensitive thing as opposed to a numbers thing.

The hard part about this is that they are really special in person.
The website only gives you half the story.
You want to reach out and grab them and hold them.
I made sure to choose very attractive forms.

Here's my website detail for the images.

Hey Thanks Kahuna!
Yeah. I love these things.
I am a Japanese martial arts enthusiast, so I knew how to
use all these things the moment I set my hands on them.
My original Judo Instructor is a fullblood Hawaiian warrior, and
I am so glad I never was on the receiving end of one of these in his hands.

If you own all these pieces in reality and you like what I painted...
I am deeply touched. :)
You are welcome in my Hale' anytime. :)

Heh, really like the weapon prints.

I got given a Massim club/sword last Christmas. It's awesome, not sure if it's genuine or tourist but looks the biz.

I live real close to the Pitt Rivers Museum, in Oxford

http://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/

just full of amazing artifacts, plus I discovered, in a darken cabinet, a bunch of Massim clubs. Just like mine.

Like finding buried treasure, garrrr

I

Thanks Racer.

I just put a set of them up on ebay starting for 30 dollars less
than I am charging on the prints website.
