Logs, logs everywhere!!!

Just when I ran out of wood, along comes a surprise storm which wrecked havoc on the town, and leaves thousands of downed trees and LOGS for the taking. 2 days with no power, but I don't care, I GOT LOGS. Friends truck got crushed, by a lovely Cherry tree....so sad. :)
Most of the downed trees are Locust trees and Pitch Pines, but a few good ones here and there.
So what do you guys think, how long til it's carveable? Keeping it in my dry basement.

Get em while you can. I suggest you get a large variety of sizes. In widths and lengths. Get as much straight length as you can store. Get help to load & unload. Don't get hurt. Be patient for drying times. It should be ready when you are assuming you carve one piece at a time until finished. Stack it inside and outside if you have space. Is that enough advice? Oh yeah, HAVE FUN and post pics!
