I just visited the Museum of Natural History in Providence for the first time in several years. A relatively new exhibit of Polynesian artifacts, called Circle of the Sea, is on display. The exhibit features clubs, paddles, tools, bark cloths etc. It was collected in the late 1800's through the early 1900's by members of a long defunct Providence group of intellectuals/explorers/collectors called the Franklin Society. You can find museum info. at http://www.osfn.org/museum. The museum is a bit run down, however this seems to be one of the renovated rooms and is done quite well. Worth a visit, if you are in the area, to see what the primitive tikiphiles collected.

Those are the best ones. Looks lovely from the outside (to open the link, remove the period at the end of it).

I've been traveling to Providence for decades (I have family there) and have never heard of this museum! Dammit!!

While in Providence, be sure to visit Nibbles, the world's largest bug!
