I personally find sinking the Carthaginian somewhat akin to denying one's past and I loved seeing it when I was there with Delphinium Angel.

I am also dubious about creating a reef in the Lahaina harbor, even a mile away, because it seems far too well-used to be worthwhile as a dive site.

On the other hand, anything that increases nature's bounty in paradise is for the good.

Maybe it all comes down to dollars; if there were no funds to preserve it, maybe it had to go.
