I've always wondered when someone would get around to make a circa 1970 scale model of the park... Guess I'll still have to wait!

But while I'm waiting, here's 1955 (Rolly Crump's son, Chris worked on this):

That's an awesome technique. And I think I can follow the instructions in the tutorial. I can't wait to try it on some of my postcards with aerial views of tiki temples.

Tang - I think this might be a cool technique to try on some of the Pacific Ocean Park views.

I wonder what ever happened to the "city of the future" display as you went through the tunnel on the people mover ride.

It's now on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority ride in Walt Disney World. You can see it inside the first building that the ride goes into, in a glass-protected display, alongside the track on the left. Some sites call the model "Progress City."

speaking of miniatures...have you seen the miniatures they have of some of the individual rides for sale at the disney gallery? I about busted a nut when I saw the jungle cruise miniature. Amazing detail! They also have most of Mainstreet done and Pirates of the carribean on the way!

Tanga - that model is amazing, I stood and drooled for quite some time the last time I went to the park

Tiki-bot - that photo totally got me. I thought I had missed one of the minatures for sale at the gallery. Very cool website I would love to see POP as a miniature...or as a fake miniature!

Quick and dirty - it was the only aerial shot of POP on GIS (very low rez and compressed)

The other day I was riding the Mark Twain steamboat, and noticed that throught the old tunnel visible from the north part of TS island you can see "stuff". Any idea what is back there now? I know there is a hunchback of notredame section to the east of what I am talking about. What I am wondering is how much of the mine train ride is still back there, and...

Does anyone have any secret pictures???????

I don't know which era Disneyland this is supposed to be, but it's pretty detailed for the building materials used:

I find it shocking that with so many ultra-hardcore Disney-philes in the world that no one has yet built a super-detailed scale model of the park. Could that really be true?

Not that I know of yet - but I do know a couple making a Nature's Wonderland scale model!

I got into the photoshop tiltshift for a minute, and did a disneyland example, as well as a few old circus, and las vegas shots from pics I found on the web.

And that model is phenomenal. It is in the Disneyland style that I fondly remember and cherish most.(Minus the few added prototype attractions to the model, that never made it to the Park)

I miss Skull rock, and the Capt. Hook's pirate ship fish sandwich shop.

I finally visited the Disney museum at the Presidio in San Francisco.
I thought it was going to be good. It freakin overwhelmed me!
It was great.
The miniature Disneyland was amazing.
If you grew up with Disneyland and Walt, this will bring back some incredible childhood memories and you walk out very content.
It was kind of like watching my childhood go passed my eyes in two hours.
(and I was sober too! :) )
It really is amazing what this man did.
