Since my grandparents passed away last year, I've inherited most of their slides and photos. Last week I came across some photos from a 1974 trip to Hawaii.

The Ala Moana Shopping Center may be a bit distant from Poly Pop, but I dig the modernist fountain - and my Grandfather's shorts are friggin' amazing...

I'll post more as I find them.

Yes, they are. I was so glad to see that he wasn't wearing black socks with them.

That last image looks like the black Sand beach on the Big Island (Kalapana).

It's now completely covered in lava.

I've got my grandfathers slides from Hawaii as well. There is a shot of my grandparents standing in front of a United prop plane at the Honolulu airport. Looks like they had a lei greeting.

Nice pics...I love that mall.

I.. loved... that mall. it is completely ruined since the way it looked in the 60's and seventies. Would ratehr have IT covered in lava, now.

Yes, very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing! I remember visiting the Ala Moana shopping center 2 or 3 times in 1977.....it was nicely designed and a lot of fun.
