I was watching Treasure Island last night with a few of the Pismo Pirates, drinking everytime a actor said a piratey cliche (Whoo-boy, I had no idea what I was getting myself into...) and Long John Silver had a four foot Sawfish snout on the wall of his bar. That's just what Hodaddy's Hideaway is missing... to hang vertically right under my OnaTiki Tangaroa mask! Sweet! Apparently it's illegal to fish for these critters anymore so the only legal snouts are vintage. Damn, I'll bet they're delicious too. Hey! Look at this kid...He's got waaaaay more than his fair share of snouts. This pic looks pretty old. Rita thinks he's probably kicked the bucket by now so if any of you have a bunch of snouts in your great grandpa's attic lemme know... I'm not kidding. |

ebay: these are for taxidermy work so i don't think they're real: http://www.archiephillips.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=26_321&osCsid=195b4f4ad57b9f25a39ad64b859f8534 sawfish is on the endagered list, so it's probably not legal to capture and sell new ones. http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/innews/sawfishlist2003.htm good luck oh, they're called sawfish bills if you want to search google deeper than i did. As Perry suspected Archie Philips makes museum copies cast from resin. Production takes a few weeks as each are made to order and they arrive white and unfinished. I would have to airbrush or paint them in some way. Hmmmm... |
